    Abstract
On April 5, 2024, the Order under the Value Added Tax (VAT) Act, in relation to increasing the VAT from 15% to 18%, was passed with a majority of 36 votes. The following compilation of infographics reflects the list of MPs that voted in favour, against and MPs who were absent from the vote and session. 55 votes were cast in favour of the motion, while 19 votes were cast against it. In addition, Manthri.lk found that although 62 MPs were absent from the session, 88 of the MPs who were present for the session were absent for the vote.
