In July 2023, Sinhala TV channels covered the funeral of a girl who had passed away at the Peradeniya hospital. The reason for her death was because of complications that arose due to a vaccine that had been administered to her. On 13 July 2023, Siyatha, Swaranawahini and ITN showed the girl's body but blurred the face. However, on this same day Hiru, Derana, Sirasa and Rupavahini did not blur the face and body in their broadcast. On 14 July 2023, Rupavahini showed the girl's body but blurred her face. However, ITN, Hiru and Derana did not blur either her face or body during their broadcast.en_US
